Arcfox Beta T1: Affordable EV with Impressive Range and Features (2026)

Arcfox, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand under the Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has recently launched an upgraded version of its entry-level EV, the Beta T1, in a strategic move to win back Chinese buyers. This move comes at a time when the brand has been struggling to maintain its market presence in the fiercely competitive Chinese EV market.

The Beta T1 is an improved version of the original Arcfox T1, which was released in September 2025. The new model offers a more competitive range, with a maximum of 450 km on a single charge, and a preview of a 550-km version is expected in the next two months. This extended range is a significant improvement over the older model's 425 km maximum range.

The Beta T1 is priced attractively, with limited-time subsidized prices ranging from 62,800 yuan ($9,290) to 78,800 yuan. This pricing strategy is aimed at price-sensitive consumers who are looking for lower ownership costs. Additionally, buyers can enjoy a range of incentives, including lifetime free maintenance, a lifetime warranty on core electrical systems, and a five-year or 120,000-kilometer warranty on the entire vehicle.

The car is powered by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power output of 95 kW. It comes with two battery pack options: 36.4 kWh and 42.3 kWh, corresponding to ranges of 350 kilometers and 450 kilometers, respectively. The new car also features a large floating central control screen with the built-in α-OS in-vehicle intelligent system, as well as various convenience features such as front-row wireless phone charging, a power tailgate, a panoramic glass roof, seat heating, and a surround-view camera system.

One of the most noticeable changes in the upgrade is the new full-width taillight at the rear, which gives the car a more modern and sleek appearance. The Beta T1 measures 4,375 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,572 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm. The body length has increased slightly from the previous generation, contributing to a more spacious and comfortable interior.

Arcfox is positioning the Beta T1 as a competitor in the segment priced below 100,000 yuan, where it will face tough competition from models like BYD's Dolphin. To regain attention and market share, Arcfox is employing a low-price strategy, offering a range of incentives and features that make the Beta T1 an attractive option for price-conscious consumers.

In conclusion, the launch of the Arcfox Beta T1 is a significant move by the brand to regain its position in the Chinese EV market. With its competitive pricing, improved range, and attractive incentives, the Beta T1 has the potential to attract a significant number of price-sensitive consumers. However, the brand will need to continue to innovate and improve its offerings to maintain its competitiveness in the long term.
