Hytale Update 2: A New World of Possibilities

Unleash Your Creativity!

The Hytale team is thrilled to present Update 2, packed with exciting features and improvements! Get ready to dive into a world of enhanced customization, immersive gameplay, and a whole new farming experience.

Cosmetics & Customization:
- Avatar Revolution: We've added a plethora of new customization options for your avatars, including the Bandit Mask, Blindfolds, and even a Vampire Mouth! Express your unique style and stand out from the crowd.
- Hair Makeover: Freshen up your character's look with updated visuals for popular haircuts like Single Side Pigtail and Smart Elven. Feel free to experiment and find your perfect hairstyle!
- Armor Visibility: Now, you can easily toggle the visibility of your equipped armor, thanks to the new armor slot visibility feature. Server hosts can control this setting for PvP and immersion purposes.
- Capes in Motion: Witness the beauty of improved cape animations when you're on the move. It's a small detail, but it adds a touch of realism and elegance to your character's appearance.

Gameplay & Balance:
- Skeletal Minions: Raise an army of skeletal minions from nearby bone piles with the new item! The large Praetorian Skeleton has a chance to drop this powerful tool, so keep an eye out!
- Mining Adjustments: Adamantite now requires a Thorium or Cobalt pickaxe to mine, and we've fine-tuned the mining and pickaxe progression. Lower-tier pickaxes deal less damage to higher-tier ore blocks, encouraging you to upgrade and unlock new possibilities.
- Buffed Bears: Polar Bears have received a well-deserved buff! They're now even more formidable opponents, so be cautious when encountering them.
- Decorative Lighting: Brighten up your world with new decorative light recipes added to the furniture bench. Create a cozy atmosphere and add some ambiance to your builds.
- NPC Drops: Certain NPCs, including Bison, Boar, Cow, Horse, and Warthog, now drop Medium Hide instead of Light Hide. This change adds a new layer of strategy to your resource gathering.
- Magma Toad Adjustments: The Magma Toad has undergone some changes. Its tongue damage has been reduced, and it now alternates between its tongue attack and a new ability: Headbutt. Be prepared for a more varied and challenging encounter!
- Petal Crafting: Petals are now craftable in the furniture bench under the Textiles category. This makes them renewable, as you can farm Yellow Petals from growing Sunflower Seeds. All crafting requirements for different colored Petals are now renewable resources, too!

World Generation:
- WorldGen V2: We've prepared WorldGen V2 for public documentation to assist modders in creating even more incredible worlds. New DefaultFlat and DefaultVoid templates have been added, offering unique starting points for your adventures.
- Creative Hub Portal: The Creative Hub Portal now spawns with World Gen V2 flat world generation, resulting in clear weather and limited fog. However, this feature only works in new creative worlds, so explore and discover the differences!
- Ore Placement Refactor: We've made a major overhaul to ore placement in all zones. You'll need to explore new chunks in old worlds to see this change, but it's worth it! Expect to find more ores, especially in the Devastated Lands underground.

Farming:
- Eternal Crops: Eternal crops are now more resilient! They won't break from accidental weapon damage, ensuring your hard work pays off.
- Soil Lifetime: We've increased the tilled soil lifetime, so your crops can thrive for longer. Now, it lasts between 1.2 to 1.5 days, giving you more time to tend to your farm.
- Soil Decay Fix: Fully grown crops no longer cause soil decay, so you can harvest without worrying about damaging your farm.
- Hoe & Seeds: You can now hold torches in your offhand while using the Hoe and Seeds, providing better visibility and convenience.
- Seed Drop: Breaking fully grown Eternal crops will drop their Seeds back, allowing you to replant and continue your farming journey.
- Harvested Crop Placement: Harvested crops can now be placed on the ground when crouching, making it easier to organize and manage your farm.
- Hoe Recipe Adjustments: Recipe requirement costs for Hoes have been adjusted, and Hoes now unlock at different farming bench tiers. Copper is now Tier 2, Iron is Tier 4, and we've introduced Thorium at Tier 6.

UI / UX:
- Editor Block Tooltips: We've improved the editor block tooltip descriptions, making it easier to understand the functions and options available.
- Color Tooltips: Tooltips now display the name of colors when hovering over color options in the Avatar Customization menu, providing a clearer indication of your chosen colors.
- Hotbar Active-Slot Indicator: We've enhanced the visibility of the hotbar active-slot by adding a diamond indicator and increasing contrast. Now, you can easily see your active slot, even in bright environments like the Howling Sands.
- Memory Categories: The categories of Memories are now sorted alphabetically when viewed via "The Heart Of Orbis," making it easier to navigate and find the memories you're looking for.
- Scripted Brush Improvements: We've made various QoL improvements to scripted brushes, added missing entries to filters, and removed invalid blocks. We've also added decoration and cave brushes and removed redundant scripted brushes for a more streamlined experience.
- Inventory Interaction Updates: We've improved double-click handling, allowing you to click faster. Shift + Clicking on armor will now directly equip it if no armor is currently equipped in the respective slot, saving you time and effort.
- Inventory Shortcuts: QERT shortcut keybinds have been added for the inventory "quick actions" (put all, pull all, quickstack, and sort). Shortcuts are displayed in the tooltip when hovering over "quick action" buttons, making them more accessible.
- FPS Counter Overlay: An "FPS counter overlay" option has been added to the settings menu under General > User Interface. Enable it to display your current FPS in the top right corner of the game.
- Player Markers: We've made various improvements to player markers, including displaying them on the compass and removing the "Player: " prefix. Player names will always render on the map, and you can toggle map/compass visibility in the maps player list.
- Ophidiophobia Accessibility Mode: We've added an Ophidiophobia accessibility mode, which turns Snake models into Hatworms. This feature can be found under Gameplay > Accessibility, ensuring a more comfortable experience for those with a fear of snakes.

Audio & Visual Effects:
- Rex Sounds: We've added all missing basic Rex sounds, enhancing the audio experience and bringing the world to life.
- Inventory Sound Update: The bones item drag/drop inventory sound has been updated for a more immersive experience.
- Bug Fixes: We've fixed a bug in a Howling Sands cave track and updated all food particle tints, ensuring a seamless and visually appealing experience.

- Shutdown Reason: A new shutdown reason, ShutdownReason.UPDATE, has been added to indicate when the server should restart to apply a staged update.
- Update Commands: New/updated commands and detailed server messages have been implemented for checking, downloading, applying, and managing updates. Player notifications and auto-apply warnings are now included.
- Release Workflow: The release workflow has been updated to include launcher scripts (start.sh, start.bat) for a smoother launch experience.
- Rendering Shadows: We've made improvements to rendering shadows, fixing various issues and enhancing the visual quality.
- Middle Click Fix: Fixed the middle click "pick block" function when the hotbar is full in creative mode. Now, it will replace the current slot with the newly picked item when the inventory is full.
