Newcastle vs Sunderland: New Kick-Off Time and TV Coverage (2026)

Get ready for a thrilling twist in the Premier League's schedule! The highly anticipated Newcastle United vs Sunderland derby is getting a new kick-off time, but there's a catch!

Three matches in March have been moved for live TV coverage, including the iconic Tyne-Wear derby at St James' Park. But here's where it gets controversial: the fixture's timing is dependent on Newcastle United's performance in the Carabao Cup.

If Newcastle manages to overcome their deficit against Manchester City in the next round, the derby will remain on Sunday, March 22nd, with a 12 pm kick-off. However, if City advances, the derby will be pushed back to the same day but with an earlier start at 12 pm, all to be aired live on Sky Sports.

The Premier League confirmed: "This match is subject to Newcastle United's potential participation in the EFL Cup Final." For now, the game is scheduled for Sunday, but stay tuned for any last-minute changes!

A statement from Newcastle United reads: "Our Premier League clashes against Manchester United, Chelsea, and Sunderland have been rescheduled due to live television coverage.

The Magpies' home game against Manchester United on March 4th will now kick off at 8:15 pm GMT, a 45-minute delay from the original 8 pm GMT slot. This game will be broadcast live on TNT Sports.

Eddie Howe's men will face Chelsea on March 14th, but the Stamford Bridge clash has been pushed back to a 5:30 pm GMT kick-off, instead of the initial 3 pm GMT. Sky Sports will air this match live.

As for the Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland, initially set for March 21st, it has been moved to the following day, with a 12 pm GMT kick-off. This match will also be shown live on Sky Sports, but remember, it's all subject to our potential Carabao Cup final participation.

Any further changes to our fixture list will be announced on newcastleunited.com in due course."

And this is the part most people miss: Sky Sports has a great deal on their Premier League and EFL package for the 2025/26 season, offering over 1,400 live matches and saving members £336! Sky will broadcast at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 matches.
